1 (HEM) ויהורם בן אחאב מלך על ישראל בשמרון בשנת שמנה עשרה ליהושפט מלך יהודה וימלך שתים עשרה שנה׃
1 (UKJV) Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 (HEM) ויעשה הרע בעיני יהוה רק לא כאביו וכאמו ויסר את מצבת הבעל אשר עשה אביו׃
2 (UKJV) "And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made. "

3 (HEM) רק בחטאות ירבעם בן נבט אשר החטיא את ישראל דבק לא סר ממנה׃
3 (UKJV) "Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not from it. "

4 (HEM) ומישע מלך מואב היה נקד והשיב למלך ישראל מאה אלף כרים ומאה אלף אילים צמר׃
4 (UKJV) And Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.

5 (HEM) ויהי כמות אחאב ויפשע מלך מואב במלך ישראל׃
5 (UKJV) But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

6 (HEM) ויצא המלך יהורם ביום ההוא משמרון ויפקד את כל ישראל׃
6 (UKJV) And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.

7 (HEM) וילך וישלח אל יהושפט מלך יהודה לאמר מלך מואב פשע בי התלך אתי אל מואב למלחמה ויאמר אעלה כמוני כמוך כעמי כעמך כסוסי כסוסיך׃
7 (UKJV) And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as you are, my people as your people, and my horses as your horses.

8 (HEM) ויאמר אי זה הדרך נעלה ויאמר דרך מדבר אדום׃
8 (UKJV) And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.

9 (HEM) וילך מלך ישראל ומלך יהודה ומלך אדום ויסבו דרך שבעת ימים ולא היה מים למחנה ולבהמה אשר ברגליהם׃
9 (UKJV) So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.

10 (HEM) ויאמר מלך ישראל אהה כי קרא יהוה לשלשת המלכים האלה לתת אותם ביד מואב׃
10 (UKJV) And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!

11 (HEM) ויאמר יהושפט האין פה נביא ליהוה ונדרשה את יהוה מאותו ויען אחד מעבדי מלך ישראל ויאמר פה אלישע בן שפט אשר יצק מים על ידי אליהו׃
11 (UKJV) But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

12 (HEM) ויאמר יהושפט יש אותו דבר יהוה וירדו אליו מלך ישראל ויהושפט ומלך אדום׃
12 (UKJV) And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13 (HEM) ויאמר אלישע אל מלך ישראל מה לי ולך לך אל נביאי אביך ואל נביאי אמך ויאמר לו מלך ישראל אל כי קרא יהוה לשלשת המלכים האלה לתת אותם ביד מואב׃
13 (UKJV) And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? get you to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

14 (HEM) ויאמר אלישע חי יהוה צבאות אשר עמדתי לפניו כי לולי פני יהושפט מלך יהודה אני נשא אם אביט אליך ואם אראך׃
14 (UKJV) And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.

15 (HEM) ועתה קחו לי מנגן והיה כנגן המנגן ותהי עליו יד יהוה׃
15 (UKJV) But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

16 (HEM) ויאמר כה אמר יהוה עשה הנחל הזה גבים גבים׃
16 (UKJV) And he said, Thus says the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.

17 (HEM) כי כה אמר יהוה לא תראו רוח ולא תראו גשם והנחל ההוא ימלא מים ושתיתם אתם ומקניכם ובהמתכם׃
17 (UKJV) "For thus says the LORD, All of you shall not see wind, neither shall all of you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that all of you may drink, both all of you, and your cattle, and your beasts. "

18 (HEM) ונקל זאת בעיני יהוה ונתן את מואב בידכם׃
18 (UKJV) And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

19 (HEM) והכיתם כל עיר מבצר וכל עיר מבחור וכל עץ טוב תפילו וכל מעיני מים תסתמו וכל החלקה הטובה תכאבו באבנים׃
19 (UKJV) And all of you shall strike every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and ruin every good piece of land with stones.

20 (HEM) ויהי בבקר כעלות המנחה והנה מים באים מדרך אדום ותמלא הארץ את המים׃
20 (UKJV) And it came to pass in the morning, when the food offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

21 (HEM) וכל מואב שמעו כי עלו המלכים להלחם בם ויצעקו מכל חגר חגרה ומעלה ויעמדו על הגבול׃
21 (UKJV) And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood in the border.

22 (HEM) וישכימו בבקר והשמש זרחה על המים ויראו מואב מנגד את המים אדמים כדם׃
22 (UKJV) And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:

23 (HEM) ויאמרו דם זה החרב נחרבו המלכים ויכו איש את רעהו ועתה לשלל מואב׃
23 (UKJV) And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.

24 (HEM) ויבאו אל מחנה ישראל ויקמו ישראל ויכו את מואב וינסו מפניהם ויבו בה והכות את מואב׃
24 (UKJV) And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and stroke the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.

25 (HEM) והערים יהרסו וכל חלקה טובה ישליכו איש אבנו ומלאוה וכל מעין מים יסתמו וכל עץ טוב יפילו עד השאיר אבניה בקיר חרשת ויסבו הקלעים ויכוה׃
25 (UKJV) "And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; nevertheless the slingers went about it, and stroke it. "

26 (HEM) וירא מלך מואב כי חזק ממנו המלחמה ויקח אותו שבע מאות איש שלף חרב להבקיע אל מלך אדום ולא יכלו׃
26 (UKJV) And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.

27 (HEM) ויקח את בנו הבכור אשר ימלך תחתיו ויעלהו עלה על החמה ויהי קצף גדול על ישראל ויסעו מעליו וישבו לארץ׃
27 (UKJV) Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his position, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
