1 (HEM) ויבאו כל שבטי ישראל אל דוד חברונה ויאמרו לאמר הננו עצמך ובשרך אנחנו׃
1 (UKJV) Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

2 (HEM) גם אתמול גם שלשום בהיות שאול מלך עלינו אתה הייתה מוציא והמבי את ישראל ויאמר יהוה לך אתה תרעה את עמי את ישראל ואתה תהיה לנגיד על ישראל׃
2 (UKJV) Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were he that led out and brought in Israel: and the LORD said to you, You shall feed my people Israel, and you shall be a captain over Israel.

3 (HEM) ויבאו כל זקני ישראל אל המלך חברונה ויכרת להם המלך דוד ברית בחברון לפני יהוה וימשחו את דוד למלך על ישראל׃
3 (UKJV) "So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. "

4 (HEM) בן שלשים שנה דוד במלכו ארבעים שנה מלך׃
4 (UKJV) David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

5 (HEM) בחברון מלך על יהודה שבע שנים וששה חדשים ובירושלם מלך שלשים ושלש שנה על כל ישראל ויהודה׃
5 (UKJV) In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 (HEM) וילך המלך ואנשיו ירושלם אל היבסי יושב הארץ ויאמר לדוד לאמר לא תבוא הנה כי אם הסירך העורים והפסחים לאמר לא יבוא דוד הנה׃
6 (UKJV) And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spoke unto David, saying, Except you take away the blind and the lame, you shall not come in here: thinking, David cannot come in here.

7 (HEM) וילכד דוד את מצדת ציון היא עיר דוד׃
7 (UKJV) Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

8 (HEM) ויאמר דוד ביום ההוא כל מכה יבסי ויגע בצנור ואת הפסחים ואת העורים שנאו נפש דוד על כן יאמרו עור ופסח לא יבוא אל הבית׃
8 (UKJV) And David said on that day, Whosoever gets up to the watercourse, and strikes the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

9 (HEM) וישב דוד במצדה ויקרא לה עיר דוד ויבן דוד סביב מן המלוא וביתה׃
9 (UKJV) So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

10 (HEM) וילך דוד הלוך וגדול ויהוה אלהי צבאות עמו׃
10 (UKJV) And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

11 (HEM) וישלח חירם מלך צר מלאכים אל דוד ועצי ארזים וחרשי עץ וחרשי אבן קיר ויבנו בית לדוד׃
11 (UKJV) And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and stone workers: and they built David an house.

12 (HEM) וידע דוד כי הכינו יהוה למלך על ישראל וכי נשא ממלכתו בעבור עמו ישראל׃
12 (UKJV) And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.

13 (HEM) ויקח דוד עוד פלגשים ונשים מירושלם אחרי באו מחברון ויולדו עוד לדוד בנים ובנות׃
13 (UKJV) And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

14 (HEM) ואלה שמות הילדים לו בירושלם שמוע ושובב ונתן ושלמה׃
14 (UKJV) "And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, "

15 (HEM) ויבחר ואלישוע ונפג ויפיע׃
15 (UKJV) Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 (HEM) ואלישמע ואלידע ואליפלט׃
16 (UKJV) And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 (HEM) וישמעו פלשתים כי משחו את דוד למלך על ישראל ויעלו כל פלשתים לבקש את דוד וישמע דוד וירד אל המצודה׃
17 (UKJV) "But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. "

18 (HEM) ופלשתים באו וינטשו בעמק רפאים׃
18 (UKJV) The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

19 (HEM) וישאל דוד ביהוה לאמר האעלה אל פלשתים התתנם בידי ויאמר יהוה אל דוד עלה כי נתן אתן את הפלשתים בידך׃
19 (UKJV) And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? will you deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.

20 (HEM) ויבא דוד בבעל פרצים ויכם שם דוד ויאמר פרץ יהוה את איבי לפני כפרץ מים על כן קרא שם המקום ההוא בעל פרצים׃
20 (UKJV) And David came to Baalperazim, and David stroke them there, and said, The LORD has broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

21 (HEM) ויעזבו שם את עצביהם וישאם דוד ואנשיו׃
21 (UKJV) And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

22 (HEM) ויספו עוד פלשתים לעלות וינטשו בעמק רפאים׃
22 (UKJV) And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

23 (HEM) וישאל דוד ביהוה ויאמר לא תעלה הסב אל אחריהם ובאת להם ממול בכאים׃
23 (UKJV) "And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, You shall not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry trees. "

24 (HEM) ויהי בשמעך את קול צעדה בראשי הבכאים אז תחרץ כי אז יצא יהוה לפניך להכות במחנה פלשתים׃
24 (UKJV) And let it be, when you hear the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall bestir yourself: for then shall the LORD go out before you, to strike the host of the Philistines.

25 (HEM) ויעש דוד כן כאשר צוהו יהוה ויך את פלשתים מגבע עד באך גזר׃
25 (UKJV) "And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and stroke the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gazer. "
