1 (KAT) Keď sa Šaulov syn dopočul, že Abner zomrel v Hebrone, ovisli mu ruky a celý Izrael bol zarazený.
1 (VUL) Audivit autem Isbaal filius Saul quod cecidisset Abner in He bron, et dissolutae sunt manus eius, omnisque Israel perturbatus est.
1 (UKJV) And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

2 (KAT) Šaulov syn mal dvoch mužov, vodcov výprav, meno jedného bolo Bána a meno druhého Rechab; boli to synovia Benjamínca Remona z Berotu, lebo aj Berot sa počítal k Benjamínovi.
2 (VUL) Duo autem viri duces turmarum erant filio Saul, nomen uni Baana et nomen alteri Rechab filii Remmon Berothitae de filiis Beniamin; siquidem et Beroth reputata est in Beniamin.
2 (UKJV) And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.

3 (KAT) Berotčania totiž utiekli do Getaimu a boli tam chránencami až po dnešný deň.
3 (VUL) Fugerant enim Berothitae in Getthaim, factique sunt ibi advenae usque in tempus hoc.
3 (UKJV) And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

4 (KAT) Šaulov syn Jonatán mal na obe nohy chromého syna. Bol päťročný, keď došla o Šaulovi a Jonatánovi správa z Jezraelu. Vtedy ho jeho dojka vzala a utekala. Ale v náhlosti pri úteku padol a ochromel. Volal sa Mifiboset.
4 (VUL) Erat autem Ionathan filio Saul filius debilis pedibus. Quinquennis enim fuit, quando venit nuntius de Saul et Ionathan ex Iezrahel. Tollens itaque eum nutrix sua fugit; cumque festinaret, ut fugeret, cecidit et claudus effectus est habuitque vocabulum Meribbaal.
4 (UKJV) And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

5 (KAT) Synovia Berotčana Remona, Rechab a Bána, sa zobrali a za horúčavy dňa vošli do Isbosetovho domu. Ten spal poludňajší spánok. (Aj vrátnička domu zaspala pri čistení pšenice.)
5 (VUL) Venientes igitur filii Remmon Berothitae, Rechab et Baana, ingressi sunt, fervente die, domum Isbaal, qui dormiebat super stratum suum meridie; et ostiaria domus purgans triticum obdormivit.
5 (UKJV) And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

6 (KAT) Rechab a jeho brat Bána prekĺzli,
6 (VUL) Ingressi sunt ergo usque interiora domus et percusserunt eum in inguine Rechab et Baana frater eius et fugerunt.
6 (UKJV) "And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they stroke him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped. "

7 (KAT) vnikli do domu a kým ten spal na svojom lôžku vo svojej spálni, zrazili ho, usmrtili a odťali mu hlavu. Potom vzali jeho hlavu a išli celú noc smerom na púšť.
7 (VUL) Cum autem ingressi fuissent domum, ille dormiebat super lectum suum in conclavi, et percutientes interfecerunt eum; sublatoque capite eius, abierunt per viam Arabae tota nocte.
7 (UKJV) For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they stroke him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and got them away through the plain all night.

8 (KAT) Isbosetovu hlavu doniesli Dávidovi do Hebronu a povedali kráľovi: „Hľa, hlava tvojho nepriateľa, Šaulovho syna Isboseta, ktorý ti číhal na život! Takto dnes Pán doprial môjmu kráľovskému pánovi pomstu nad Šaulom a jeho potomstvom.“
8 (VUL) Et attulerunt caput Isbaal ad David in Hebron dixeruntque ad regem: “ Ecce caput Isbaal filii Saul inimici tui, qui quaerebat animam tuam; et dedit Dominus domino meo regi ultiones hodie de Saul et de semine eius ”.
8 (UKJV) "And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul your enemy, which sought your life; and the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed. "

9 (KAT) Ale Dávid povedal synom Berotčana Remona, Rechabovi a jeho bratovi Bánovi: „Ako žije Pán, ktorý vyslobodil moju dušu z každej úzkosti:

10 (KAT) Toho, ktorý mi oznámil: »Hľa, Šaul zomrel!« a domnieval sa, že je to blahozvesť, chytil som a zabil v Sikelegu, hoci som mu mal dať odmenu za blahozvesť.
10 (VUL) quoniam eum, qui annuntiaverat mihi et dixerat: “Mortuus est Saul”, qui putabat se prospera nuntiare, tenui et occidi in Siceleg, cui oportebat me dare mercedem pro nuntio;
10 (UKJV) When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

11 (KAT) A keď zločinní chlapi zavraždili nevinného človeka v jeho dome, na jeho lôžku, nemám jeho krv požadovať z vašich rúk a vyhubiť vás zo zeme?“
11 (VUL) quanto magis nunc, cum homines impii interfecerunt virum innoxium in domo sua super lectum suum, non quaeram sanguinem eius de manu vestra et auferam vos de terra? ”.
11 (UKJV) How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

12 (KAT) Vtom dal príkaz sluhom a oni ich zabili, poobtínali im ruky a nohy a zavesili ich pri rybníku v Hebrone. Isbosetovu hlavu však vzali a pochovali v Abnerovom hrobe v Hebrone.
12 (VUL) Praecepit itaque David pueris, et interfecerunt eos; praecidentesque manus et pedes eorum suspenderunt eos super piscinam in Hebron. Caput autem Isbaal tulerunt et sepelierunt in sepulcro Abner in Hebron.
12 (UKJV) And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the tomb of Abner in Hebron.
