1 (KAT) Toto sú Dávidove posledné slová: „Výrok Izaiho syna Dávida, výrok vysokopostaveného muža, pomazaného Jakubovým Bohom, pevca piesní Izraela.
1 (VUL) Haec autem sunt verba David novissima: “ Dixit David filius Isai, dixit vir constitutus in alto, christus Dei Iacob, suavis psalta Israel.
1 (UKJV) Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

2 (KAT) Pánov duch cezo mňa hovoril, jeho reč mal som na jazyku.
2 (VUL) Spiritus Domini locutus est per me, et sermo eius super linguam meam.
2 (UKJV) The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue.

3 (KAT) Boh Izraela mi povedal, hovorila Skala Izraela: »Kto spravodlivo vládne nad ľuďmi, kto v Božej bázni vladári,
3 (VUL) Locutus est Deus Israel, mihi dixit Petra Israel: “Dominator hominum iustus, dominator in timore Dei
3 (UKJV) The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

4 (KAT) je ako jas rána, keď slnce vychádza za rána bezoblačného a z pôdy vyludzuje trávu po daždi.«
4 (VUL) est sicut lux aurorae, oriente sole, mane absque nubibus; de splendore post pluviam herba oritur de terra”.
4 (UKJV) "And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. "

5 (KAT) Či nie je taký môj dom s Božou pomocou? Veď zmluvu večnú so mnou uzavrel, pevnú, zaistenú vo všetkom. Všetko moje šťastie, všetko, čo len chcem, nie iba z neho vyklíči?
5 (VUL) Nonne sic est domus mea cum Deo? Quia pactum aeternum statuit mihi, dispositum in omnibus atque munitum. Cunctam enim salutem meam et omne desiderabile nonne faciet germinare?
5 (UKJV) "Although my house be not so with God; yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow. "

6 (KAT) Hriešnici však všetci sú jak tŕnie zaviate, nik ich nevezme do ruky.
6 (VUL) Praevaricatores autem quasi spinae abiectae universi, quae non tolluntur manibus;
6 (UKJV) But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

7 (KAT) A ak sa ich niekto dotknúť chce, ozbrojí sa železom a kopijou. Ohňom ich vypáli na mieste.“
7 (VUL) et si quis tangere voluerit eas, armabitur ferro et ligno lanceato, igneque succensae comburentur ”.
7 (UKJV) "But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place. "

8 (KAT) Toto sú mená hrdinov, ktorých mal Dávid: Hakmonita Isboset bol hlavou troch. On sa rozohnal svojou kopijou a jedným šmahom zabil osemsto.
8 (VUL) Haec nomina fortium David: Iesbaal Hachamonites, princeps inter tres, ipse levavit hastam suam super octingentos, quos interfecit impetu uno.
8 (UKJV) "These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at the same. "

9 (KAT) Po ňom bol Dodov syn Ahohita Eleazar, medzi troma hrdinami. Bol pri Dávidovi vo Fesdomime, keď sa tam Filištínci zhromažďovali do boja a Izraeliti ustupovali.
9 (VUL) Post hunc Eleazar filius Dodo Ahohites, inter tres fortes. Qui erat cum David in Aphesdommim, quando Philisthim congregati sunt illuc in proelium.
9 (UKJV) And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

10 (KAT) Ale on stál a ťal Filištíncov, kým mu neustala ruka a neprilepila sa mu ruka k meču. Tak spôsobil Pán veľké víťazstvo v ten deň. Potom sa vojsko vrátilo za ním, ale iba plieniť.
10 (VUL) Cumque ascendissent viri Israel, ipse stetit et percussit Philisthaeos, donec deficeret manus eius et obrigesceret cum gladio; fecitque Dominus salutem magnam in die illa, et populus reversus est tantum ad spolia detrahenda.
10 (UKJV) "He arose, and stroke the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. "

11 (KAT) Po ňom Ageho syn Hararita Semá. Keď sa Filištínci zhromažďovali v Lechi, bol tam ostredok poľa plný šošovice. A keď ľud utekal pred Filištíncami,
11 (VUL) Et post hunc Samma filius Age Ararites. Et congregati sunt Philisthim in Lehi; erat quippe ibi ager lente plenus. Cumque fugisset populus a facie Philisthim,
11 (UKJV) And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentils: and the people fled from the Philistines.

12 (KAT) postavil sa prostred ostredku, chránil ho a ťal Filištíncov. Tak Pán spôsobil veľké víťazstvo.
12 (VUL) stetit ille in medio agri et tuitus est eum percussitque Philisthaeos, et fecit Dominus salutem magnam.
12 (UKJV) But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

13 (KAT) Raz zostupovali traja z tridsiatich začiatkom žatvy a prišli k Dávidovi do jaskyne Odolam. Rota Filištíncov táborila v údolí Refaim.
13 (VUL) Et descenderunt tres de triginta et venerunt tempore messis ad David in speluncam Odollam; castra autem Philisthinorum erant posita in valle Raphaim.
13 (UKJV) And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

14 (KAT) Dávid bol práve v pevnosti a posádka Filištíncov bola vtedy v Betleheme.
14 (VUL) Et David erat tunc in praesidio; porro statio Philisthinorum tunc erat in Bethlehem.
14 (UKJV) And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

15 (KAT) A Dávid vyslovil žiadosť: „Kto mi donesie vody na pitie z cisterny, ktorá je v Betleheme pri bráne?“
15 (VUL) Desideravit igitur David et ait: “ O si quis mihi daret potum aquae de cisterna, quae est in Bethlehem iuxta portam! ”.
15 (UKJV) And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

16 (KAT) Nato sa traja hrdinovia prebili cez tábor Filištíncov, načreli vody z cisterny, ktorá je v Betleheme pri bráne, doniesli ju a dali Dávidovi. Nechcel ju však piť, ale vylial ju Pánovi.
16 (VUL) Irruperunt ergo tres fortes castra Philisthinorum et hauserunt aquam de cisterna Bethlehem, quae erat iuxta portam, et attulerunt ad David. At ille noluit bibere, sed libavit illam Domino
16 (UKJV) And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

17 (KAT) A povedal: „Nech ma Pán chráni urobiť to! Je to krv mužov, ktorí išli s nasadením svojich životov.“ Preto ju nechcel piť. Toto urobili traja hrdinovia.
17 (VUL) dicens: “ Propitius mihi sit Dominus, ne faciam hoc. Num sanguinem hominum istorum, qui profecti sunt in animarum periculo, bibam? ”. Noluit ergo bibere. Haec fecerunt tres robustissimi.
17 (UKJV) And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

18 (KAT) Joabov brat Abisai, syn Sarvie, bol hlavou tridsiatich. On zdvihol svoju kopiju na tristo, (ktorých) prebodol. Mal meno medzi tridsiatimi.
18 (VUL) Abisai autem frater Ioab filius Sarviae princeps erat de triginta. Ipse est qui elevavit hastam suam contra trecentos, quos interfecit. Nominatus in triginta
18 (UKJV) And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

19 (KAT) Bol váženejší ako tridsiati a bol im veliteľom, ale tým trom sa nevyrovnal.
19 (VUL) et inter triginta nobilior eratque eorum princeps; sed usque ad tres primos non pervenerat.
19 (UKJV) Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: nevertheless he attained not unto the first three.

20 (KAT) Jojadov syn Banaiáš, mocný a činorodý muž z Kabseelu, porazil dvoch božích levov moabských. Okrem toho sa spustil dolu a zabil v studni leva v taký deň, keď bol sneh.
20 (VUL) Et Banaias filius Ioiadae vir fortissimus magnorum operum de Cabseel. Ipse percussit duos filios Ariel de Moab, et ipse descendit et percussit leonem in media cisterna in diebus nivis.
20 (UKJV) And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

21 (KAT) On zabil aj Egypťana, vzhľadného muža. Egypťan mal v ruke kopiju, ale on šiel k nemu s palicou. Egypťanovi vytrhol kopiju z ruky a zabil ho jeho vlastnou kopijou.
21 (VUL) Ipse quoque interfecit virum Aegyptium, virum procerae staturae habentem in manu hastam; itaque cum descendisset ad eum cum baculo, vi extorsit hastam de manu Aegyptii et interfecit eum hasta sua.
21 (UKJV) "And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear. "

22 (KAT) Toto urobil Banaiáš, syn Jojadu, a mal meno medzi tridsiatimi hrdinami.
22 (VUL) Haec fecit Banaias filius Ioiadae, et ipse nominatus inter triginta fortissimos.
22 (UKJV) These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

23 (KAT) Bol váženejší ako tridsiati, ale tým trom sa nevyrovnal. Dávid ho zaradil do svojho sprievodu.
23 (VUL) Erat autem nobilior inter triginta; verumtamen usque ad tres non pervenerat. Fecitque eum David sibi caput satellitum suorum.
23 (UKJV) He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.
