1 (KAT) Preto Pán poslal k Dávidovi Nátana. On šiel k nemu a povedal mu: „V ktoromsi meste boli dvaja mužovia, jeden bohatý a jeden chudobný.
1 (VUL) Misit ergo Dominus Nathan ad David. Qui cum venisset ad eum, dixit ei: “ Duo viri erant in civitate una, unus dives et alter pauper.
1 (UKJV) "And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. "

2 (KAT) Bohatý mal veľké množstvo oviec a dobytka.

2 (UKJV) The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:

4 (KAT) Tu prišiel k bohatému mužovi pocestný a jemu bolo ľúto vziať zo svojich oviec a zo svojho dobytka a pripraviť to pocestnému, ktorý k nemu prišiel, preto vzal ovečku chudobného muža a pripravil ju mužovi, ktorý k nemu prišiel.“

9 (KAT) Prečo si opovrhol Pánovým slovom, že si urobil, čo sa mu nepáči?! Hetejca Uriáša si zabil mečom a jeho manželku si si vzal za ženu. Zabil si ho mečom Amončanov.
9 (VUL) Quare ergo contempsisti verbum Domini, ut faceres malum in conspectu eius? Uriam Hetthaeum percussisti gladio et uxorem illius accepisti uxorem tibi et interfecisti eum gladio filiorum Ammon.
9 (UKJV) Wherefore have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? you have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

10 (KAT) Preto od tvojho domu nikdy neodstúpi meč, lebo si opovrhol mnou a vzal si si manželku Hetejca Uriáša, aby bola tvojou ženou.
10 (VUL) Quam ob rem non recedet gladius de domo tua usque in sempiternum, eo quod despexeris me et tuleris uxorem Uriae Hetthaei, ut esset uxor tua.
10 (UKJV) "Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house; because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. "

11 (KAT) Toto hovorí Pán: Hľa, ja z tvojho vlastného domu dopustím na teba nešťastie; pred tvojimi očami vezmem tvoje ženy a dám ich inému. On bude spať s tvojimi ženami pred očami tohoto slnka.
11 (VUL) Itaque haec dicit Dominus: Ecce ego suscitabo super te malum de domo tua et tollam uxores tuas in oculis tuis et dabo proximo tuo, et dormiet cum uxoribus tuis in oculis solis huius.
11 (UKJV) Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them unto your neighbour, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.

13 (KAT) Dávid povedal Nátanovi: „Zhrešil som proti Pánovi!“ A Nátan vravel Dávidovi: „Aj Pán ti odpustil hriech, nezomrieš!

15 (KAT) Potom Nátan odišiel domov. Pán však udrel dieťa, ktoré Dávidovi porodila Uriášova manželka, a ochorelo.
15 (VUL) Et reversus est Nathan domum suam. Percussitque Dominus parvulum, quem peperat uxor Uriae David, et graviter aegrotavit;
15 (UKJV) And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.

16 (KAT) Dávid prosil Boha za chlapca, Dávid sa prísne postil a keď prišiel (domov), ležal celú noc na zemi.
16 (VUL) deprecatusque est David Dominum pro parvulo et ieiunavit David ieiunio et ingressus domum pernoctabat iacens super terram.
16 (UKJV) "David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth. "

17 (KAT) Starší jeho domu pristúpili k nemu a chceli ho zdvihnúť zo zeme. Ale nechcel, ani s nimi nejedol.

18 (KAT) Na siedmy deň chlapec zomrel. A Dávidovi sluhovia sa báli oznámiť mu, že dieťa zomrelo. Vraveli si: „Kým chlapec ešte žil, prihovárali sme sa mu, a nepočúval na náš hlas. Akože mu povieme: »Chlapec umrel.«?! Veď porobí zle!“
18 (VUL) Accidit autem die septima, ut moreretur infans. Timueruntque servi David nuntiare ei quod mortuus esset parvulus; dixerunt enim: “ Ecce, cum parvulus adhuc viveret, loquebamur ad eum, et non audiebat vocem nostram. Nunc quomodo dicemus: “Mortuus est puer”? Peius patrabit! ”.
18 (UKJV) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?

19 (KAT) Dávid videl, že si jeho sluhovia pošuškávajú. Dávid pochopil, že chlapec zomrel. A Dávid sa spýtal svojich sluhov: „Zomrel chlapec?“ Odpovedali: „Zomrel.“
19 (VUL) Cum ergo vidisset David servos suos mussitantes, intellexit quod mortuus esset infantulus dixitque ad servos suos: “ Num mortuus est puer? ”. Qui responderunt ei: “ Mortuus est ”.
19 (UKJV) But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.

20 (UKJV) "Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat. "

23 (VUL) Nunc autem, quia mortuus est, quare ieiuno? Numquid potero revocare eum amplius? Ego vadam magis ad eum, ille vero non revertetur ad me ”.
23 (UKJV) But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

24 (KAT) Potom Dávid tešil svoju ženu Betsabe, vošiel k nej a spal s ňou. I porodila syna, ktorého nazval Šalamúnom. Pán ho miloval.
24 (VUL) Et consolatus est David Bethsabee uxorem suam ingressusque ad eam dormivit cum ea, quae genuit filium; et vocavit nomen eius Salomon. Et Dominus dilexit eum
24 (UKJV) And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

25 (KAT) A Pán ho prostredníctvom proroka Nátana dal s ohľadom na Pána nazvať Jedidjá.
25 (VUL) misitque in manu Nathan prophetae et vocavit nomen eius Iedidia (id est Amabilis Domino) propter Dominum.
25 (UKJV) "And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD. "

26 (KAT) Joab však bojoval pri Rabe Amončanov a zaujal kráľovské mesto.

29 (VUL) Congregavit itaque David omnem populum et profectus est adversum Rabba; cumque dimicasset, cepit eam.
29 (UKJV) And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.

30 (KAT) Vzal korunu ich kráľa z jeho hlavy, ktorá vážila hrivnu zlata a bol na nej drahokam, ktorý sa dostal na Dávidovu hlavu. Z mesta odniesli veľké množstvo koristi.

30 (UKJV) And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.

31 (UKJV) And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
