1 (KJV) This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
1 (B21) Toto je kniha Adamova příběhu. Tenkrát, když Bůh stvořil člověka, učinil jej podle své podoby.
2 (KJV) Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
2 (B21) Stvořil je jako muže a ženu, požehnal jim a v den, kdy byli stvořeni, jim dal jméno Adam, Člověk.
3 (KJV) And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
3 (B21) Když bylo Adamovi 130 let, zplodil syna podle své podoby, ke svému obrazu, a dal mu jméno Set.
4 (KJV) And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
4 (B21) Po zplození Seta žil Adam ještě 800 let a plodil syny a dcery.
5 (KJV) And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
5 (B21) Adam žil celkem 930 let a potom zemřel.
6 (KJV) And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:
6 (B21) Když bylo Setovi 105 let, zplodil Enoše.
7 (KJV) And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters:
7 (B21) Po zplození Enoše žil Set ještě 807 let a plodil syny a dcery.
8 (KJV) And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.
8 (B21) Set žil celkem 912 let a potom zemřel.
9 (KJV) And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:
9 (B21) Když bylo Enošovi 90 let, zplodil Kénana.
10 (KJV) And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:
10 (B21) Po zplození Kénana žil Enoš ještě 815 let a plodil syny a dcery.
11 (KJV) And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.
11 (B21) Enoš žil celkem 905 let a potom zemřel.
12 (KJV) And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:
12 (B21) Když bylo Kénanovi 70 let, zplodil Mahalalela.
13 (KJV) And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:
13 (B21) Po zplození Mahalalela žil Kénan ještě 840 let a plodil syny a dcery.
14 (KJV) And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.
14 (B21) Kénan žil celkem 910 let a potom zemřel.
15 (KJV) And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:
15 (B21) Když bylo Mahalalelovi 65 let, zplodil Járeda.
16 (KJV) And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:
16 (B21) Po zplození Járeda žil Mahalalel ještě 830 let a plodil syny a dcery.
17 (KJV) And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.
17 (B21) Mahalalel žil celkem 895 let a potom zemřel.
18 (KJV) And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:
18 (B21) Když bylo Járedovi 162 let, zplodil Enocha.
19 (KJV) And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
19 (B21) Po zplození Enocha žil Járed ještě 800 let a plodil syny a dcery.
20 (KJV) And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
20 (B21) Járed žil celkem 962 let a potom zemřel.
21 (KJV) And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
21 (B21) Když bylo Enochovi 65 let, zplodil Metuzaléma.
22 (KJV) And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
22 (B21) Po zplození Metuzaléma žil Enoch s Bohem ještě 300 let a plodil syny a dcery.
23 (KJV) And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
23 (B21) Enoch žil celkem 365 let.
24 (KJV) And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
24 (B21) Enoch žil s Bohem, až jednou zmizel, neboť ho Bůh vzal.
25 (KJV) And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:
25 (B21) Když bylo Metuzalémovi 187 let, zplodil Lámecha.
26 (KJV) And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:
26 (B21) Po zplození Lámecha žil Metuzalém 782 let a plodil syny a dcery.
27 (KJV) And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
27 (B21) Metuzalém žil celkem 969 let a potom zemřel.
28 (KJV) And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
28 (B21) Když bylo Lámechovi 182 let, zplodil syna
29 (KJV) And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
29 (B21) a dal mu jméno Noe, Úleva, neboť řekl: "Ten nám přinese úlevu od těžké dřiny našich rukou, kterou máme se zemí, jíž Hospodin zlořečil."
30 (KJV) And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:
30 (B21) Po zplození Noema žil Lámech 595 let a plodil syny a dcery.
31 (KJV) And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.
31 (B21) Lámech žil celkem 777 let a potom zemřel.
32 (KJV) And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
Gn 1:26 - And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gn 9:6 - Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
1Kor 11:7 - For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

Heb 11:5 - By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

2Kr 2:11 - And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Gn 5,1 - "Zoznam", hebr. séfer, značí síce v prvom rade ,knihu', ale aj akýkoľvek ,menší spis, záznam', teda aj ,zoznam'.
Gn 5,2-32 - V rodostrome Setitovcov od Adama až po Lamecha, otca Noemovho, je desať generácií. Udané sú roky tých mužov, čo predstavovali jednotlivé generácie. Na prvý pohľad by sa teda zdalo, že ľahko možno určiť čas od stvorenia sveta do potopy sveta, od Adama po Noema. Stačilo by sčítať celkové roky desiatich predstaviteľov spomenutých generácii a došli by sme k presnému poznaniu času od stvorenia prvého človeka až po potopu sveta. Treba si však uvedomiť, že svätopiscovi nešlo tak o určenie času, o chronológiu, ako skôr o to, aby poukázal na pôvod jednotlivých rodín od Adama po Noema, potom od Noema po Abraháma a napokon od Abraháma po Jakuba a izraelský národ; v tomto národe sa vyplní protoevanjelium, ktoré sa medzičasom znova a znova prísľubom Božím potvrdzuje. Na dokázanie tohto faktu stačí uviesť, že v Svätom písme sú genealógie na niektorých miestach neúplné, nezhodujú sa ani v menách (Mt 1,8 n.; 1 Krn 3,10 n. atď.). Preto právom možno predpokladať, že v rodostrome sú vynechané niektoré generácie, ako keby v reťazi vypadli niektoré ohnivká. – O mimoriadne dlhom veku patriarchov možno povedať iba toľko, že ho nachádzame len v najstaršej vrstve Pentateuchu, kde sa s obľubou narába so symbolickými číslami, ktoré my už dnes nerozriešime. Babylonské záznamy uvádzajú pri starých kráľoch ešte oveľa vyšší vek.
Gn 5,21-24 - Henoch sa líši od ostatných patriarchov tým, že jeho život je znateľne kratší, počet jeho rokov sa dokonale zhoduje s počtom dní slnečného roku, Písmo o ňom hovorí, že "chodil s Bohom", ako neskôr o Noemovi a "Boh ho vzal", ako Eliáša. Preto je veľkou postavou židovskej tradície, ktorá ho stavia za príklad svojej nábožnosti.
