(KJV - Anglický - King James)

Gn 48, 1-22

1 (KJV) And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
Vzal tedy s sebou své dva syny, Manasese a Efraima.

2 (KJV) And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
2 (B21) A když bylo Jákobovi řečeno: "Hle, přichází k tobě tvůj syn Josef!"

3 (KJV) And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
3 (B21) Jákob pak Josefovi řekl: "Všemohoucí Bůh se mi ukázal v Luzu v kanaánské zemi, požehnal mi

4 (KJV) And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.
4 (B21) a řekl mi: ‚Hle, způsobím, aby ses rozplodil a rozmnožil. Učiním z tebe svazek národů a tuto zem dám tvému budoucímu semeni do věčného vlastnictví.'

5 (KJV) And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
5 (B21) Nyní tedy přijímám za své oba tvé syny, kteří se ti zde narodili před mým příchodem do Egypta: Efraim a Manases mi budou jako Ruben a Šimeon.

6 (KJV) And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
6 (B21) Potomci, které zplodíš po nich, budou tví. Pokud jde o jejich dědictví, budou uvedeni pod jménem svých bratrů.

7 (KJV) And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

8 (KJV) And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?
8 (B21) Tehdy si Izrael všiml Josefových synů a zeptal se: "Kdo to je?"

9 (KJV) And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.

10 (KJV) Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
10 (B21) (Izraelovy oči už byly zesláblé stářím, takže sotva viděl.) Josef je k němu přivedl a on je líbal a objímal.

11 (KJV) And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
11 (B21) Tehdy Izrael Josefovi řekl: "Ani jsem nedoufal, že ještě uvidím tvou tvář, a hle, Bůh dal, že vidím i tvé potomky!"

12 (KJV) And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

13 (KJV) And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.
13 (B21) Pravou rukou postavil Efraima k Izraelově levici a levou postavil Manasese k Izraelově pravici.

14 (KJV) And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

15 (KJV) And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
15 (B21) A takto Josefovi požehnal: "Bůh, před jehož tváří chodili mí otcové Abraham a Izák, Bůh, jenž byl mým pastýřem po celý můj život až po dnešní den,

16 (KJV) The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

17 (KJV) And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

18 (KJV) And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.

19 (KJV) And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.
19 (B21) Jeho otec to však odmítl: "Vím, synu, vím. I z něho vzejde lid, i on se rozroste.

20 (KJV) And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
20 (B21) Toho dne jim požehnal slovy: "Tvým jménem bude žehnat Izrael: ‚Dej Bůh, abys byl jako Efraim a Manases!'" A tak dal Izrael přednost Efraimovi před Manasesem.

21 (KJV) And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
21 (B21) Potom řekl Josefovi: "Hle, já už umírám, ale Bůh bude s vámi a přivede vás zpět do země vašich otců.

22 (KJV) Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

Heb 11:21 - By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.

Gn 31:42 - Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.

Rút 4:11 - And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:

Jer 31:20 - Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

Verš 22
Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
Joz 13:7 - Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
Joz 16:1 - And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,
Joz 17:1 - There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
Joz 24:8 - And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

Jozef vo svojich synoch dostáva dva podiely. A to bolo právo prvorodeného.

Gn 48,7 - Porov. pozn. k 35,16–20.

Gn 48,19 - Mladší Jozefov Efraim v budúcnosti bude viac znamenať v histórii vyvoleného národa ako Manasses, bude to mocný a početný kmeň.
