Gn 37, 1-36

1 (UKJV) And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
1 (ROH) A Jakob býval v zemi pohostínstva svojeho otca, v zemi Kanaána.

2 (UKJV) "These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report. "
2 (ROH) Toto sú príbehy Jakobove. Jozef, ktorému bolo sedemnásť rokov, pásol stádo so svojimi bratmi. A on, chlapec, bol so synmi Bilhy a so synmi Zilfy, žien to svojeho otca. A Jozef donášal ich zlú povesť ich otcovi.

3 (UKJV) Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
3 (ROH) A Izrael miloval Jozefa nad všetkých svojich synov, pretože mu bol synom staroby, a spravil mu sukňu pestrých farieb.

4 (UKJV) And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

5 (UKJV) And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
5 (ROH) A keď sa potom sníval Jozefovi zvláštny sen, a oznámil ho svojim bratom, nenávideli ho ešte viac.

6 (UKJV) And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:

7 (UKJV) "For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made reverence to my sheaf. "

8 (UKJV) And his brethren said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? or shall you indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

9 (UKJV) "And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made reverence to me. "
9 (ROH) A ešte sa mu sníval iný sen. A rozprával ho svojim bratom a riekol: Hľa, zase sa mi sníval sen. A hľa, slnce a mesiac a jedenásť hviezd sa mi klaňalo.

10 (UKJV) And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to you to the earth?
10 (ROH) A keď to rozprával svojmu otcovi a svojim bratom, dohováral mu jeho otec a riekol mu: Čo je to jaký sen, ktorý sa ti to sníval? Či azda prijdeme ja i tvoja matka i tvoji bratia, aby sme sa ti klaňali k zemi?
Dovremo dunque io e tua madre e i tuoi fratelli venir proprio a inchinarci davanti a te fino a terra?"

11 (UKJV) "And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying. "

12 (UKJV) And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
12 (ROH) Potom odišli jeho bratia pásť stádo svojho otca do Sichema.

13 (UKJV) And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not your brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send you unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
13 (ROH) A Izrael povedal Jozefovi: Či nepasú tvoji bratia v Sicheme? Poď, a pošlem ťa za nimi. A on mu riekol: Tu som, otče.

14 (UKJV) "And he said to him, Go, I pray you, see whether it be well with your brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. "
14 (ROH) A povedal mu: Nože iď, pozri, či sa majú dobre tvoji bratia, a či sa má dobre stádo. A potom mi dones zprávu. A tak ho poslal z doliny Hebrona, a prišiel do Sichema.

15 (UKJV) And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seek you?
15 (ROH) A našiel ho nejaký muž, keď hľa, blúdil po poli. A človek sa ho pýtal a povedal: Čo hľadáš?

16 (UKJV) And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray you, where they feed their flocks.
16 (ROH) A on odpovedal: Hľadám svojich bratov. Povedz mi, prosím, kde pasú?
16 (RIV) Egli rispose: "Cerco i miei fratelli; deh, dimmi dove siano a pascere il gregge".

17 (UKJV) "And the man said, They are departed behind; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan. "
Giuseppe andò quindi in traccia de’ suoi fratelli, e li trovò a Dotan.

18 (UKJV) And when they saw him far off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

19 (UKJV) And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer comes.
19 (ROH) A povedali druh druhovi: Hľa, tamto ide majster snov!
19 (RIV) E dissero l’uno all’altro: "Ecco cotesto sognatore che viene!

20 (UKJV) Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
20 (ROH) A tak teraz poďte, zabijeme ho a hodíme ho do niektorej cisterny a povieme: Dravá zver ho zožrala.

21 (UKJV) "And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him. "
21 (ROH) Ale keď to počul Rúben, vytrhnul ho z ich ruky a povedal: Nezabijeme ho!

22 (UKJV) "And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again. "
22 (ROH) A ešte im povedal Rúben: Nevylievajte krvi!

23 (UKJV) "And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; "
23 (RIV) Quando Giuseppe fu giunto presso i suoi fratelli, lo spogliarono della sua veste, della veste lunga con le maniche che aveva addosso;

24 (UKJV) And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
24 (ROH) a vzali ho a hodili ho do cisterny. A cisterna bola prázdna; nebolo v nej vody.

25 (UKJV) And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spices and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

26 (UKJV) And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
26 (ROH) V tedy povedal Júda svojim bratom: Aký zisk budeme mať, keď zabijeme svojho brata a zakryjeme jeho krv?

27 (UKJV) "Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content. "

28 (UKJV) "Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt. "
28 (ROH) A keď išli popri nich mužovia Madianiti, kupci, vytiahli a vyviedli Jozefa z cisterny a predali ho Izmaelitom za dvadsať strieborných, a tí doviedli Jozefa do Egypta.
E questi menarono Giuseppe in Egitto.

29 (UKJV) "And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes. "
29 (ROH) Keď sa potom navrátil Rúben k cisterne, hľa, Jozefa už nebolo v cisterne. A roztrhnul svoje rúcha.

30 (UKJV) "And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, where shall I go? "
30 (ROH) A keď sa navrátil k svojim bratom, povedal: Nieto chlapca! A ja, kam sa ja teraz podejem!

31 (UKJV) "And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; "
31 (ROH) Vtedy vzali sukňu Jozefovu a zabijúc kozla zamočili sukňu do krvi.

32 (UKJV) "And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be your son's coat or no. "
32 (ROH) A poslali sukňu pestrých farieb a dali zaniesť svojmu otcovi a odkázali: Toto sme našli. Nože pozri, či je to sukňa tvojho syna, či nie je.

33 (UKJV) "And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast has devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. "
33 (ROH) A poznal ju a povedal: Je to sukňa môjho syna.

34 (UKJV) And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

35 (UKJV) "And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him. "

36 (UKJV) And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
36 (ROH) A Madianiti ho predali do Egypta, Putifarovi, dvoraninovi faraonovmu, veliteľovi kráľovskej stráže.

Sk 7:9 - And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

Mnohé časti tohto biblického textu javia známky poznania egyptských zvykov a reálií.

Gn 37,2 - Synovia Baly boli Dan a Neftali (35,25), synovia Zelfy zasa Gad a Aser (35,26).
