Kniha Genezis

1 (KJV) And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
1 (B21) Dína, dcera, kterou Jákobovi porodila Léa, si jednou vyšla navštívit domorodé dívky.

2 (KJV) And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
2 (B21) Když ji uviděl kníže té země, Šechem, syn Hivejce Chamora, zmocnil se jí a spal s ní - znásilnil ji.

3 (KJV) And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.
3 (B21) Přilnul ale k Jákobově dceři Díně celou duší, zamiloval si ji a mluvil s ní laskavě.

4 (KJV) And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.
4 (B21) Potom Šechem přemlouval svého otce Chamora: "Vezmi mi tu dívenku za ženu!"

5 (KJV) And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.
5 (B21) Když Jákob uslyšel, že Šechem poskvrnil jeho dceru Dínu, jeho synové byli právě se stádem na poli. Až do jejich příchodu tedy mlčel.

6 (KJV) And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.
6 (B21) Šechemův otec Chamor se mezitím vypravil k Jákobovi, aby s ním promluvil.

7 (KJV) And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.
7 (B21) Vtom přišli Jákobovi synové z pole, a když to uslyšeli, zasáhlo je to tak, že se velmi rozlítili. Spáchal přece v Izraeli hanebnost, když spal s Jákobovou dcerou - to se přece nesmí!

8 (KJV) And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.
8 (B21) Chamor s nimi začal vyjednávat: "Můj syn Šechem prahne po vaší dceři celou duší; dejte mu ji, prosím, za ženu.

9 (KJV) And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.
9 (B21) Spřízněte se s námi - dávejte nám své dcery a berte si naše.

10 (KJV) And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.
10 (B21) Když budete bydlet u nás, bude celá země před vámi. Bydlete v ní, obchodujte a mějte ji za svou!"

11 (KJV) And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.
11 (B21) Šechem pak jejímu otci a jejím bratrům řekl: "Moc vás prosím; dám vám, cokoli si řeknete!

12 (KJV) Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.
12 (B21) Uložte mi vysoké věno a mnoho darů a já dám, kolik mi řeknete, jen mi tu dívku dejte za ženu!"

13 (KJV) And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:
13 (B21) Jákobovi synové odpověděli Šechemovi a Chamorovi lstivě, neboť poskvrnil jejich sestru Dínu.

14 (KJV) And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
14 (B21) Řekli jim: "Nic takového nemůžeme udělat. Dát svou sestru neobřezanému muži - to by pro nás byla hanba!

15 (KJV) But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised;
15 (B21) Vyhovíme vám, jen když budete jako my. Ať se každý z vás, kdo je mužského pohlaví, dá obřezat.

16 (KJV) Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
16 (B21) Pak vám budeme dávat své dcery a brát si vaše, budeme bydlet s vámi a budeme jeden lid.

17 (KJV) But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.
17 (B21) Pokud nás však neposlechnete a neobřežete se, vezmeme si svou dceru a odejdeme."

18 (KJV) And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.
18 (B21) Jejich slova se Chamorovi i jeho synu Šechemovi zalíbila

19 (KJV) And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father.
19 (B21) a ten mládenec neváhal tu věc vykonat, neboť po Jákobově dceři velmi toužil. (Šechem byl z celé rodiny svého otce ten nejváženější.)

20 (KJV) And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,
20 (B21) Chamor a jeho syn Šechem tedy přišli k bráně svého města a promluvili k tamním měšťanům:

21 (KJV) These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.
21 (B21) "Tito muži se k nám chovají pokojně. Ať tedy bydlí v této zemi a obchodují v ní. Hle, země je přece dost prostorná i pro ně; berme si tedy jejich dcery za ženy a své dcery dávejme jim.

22 (KJV) Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.
22 (B21) Vyhoví nám ovšem a budou s námi bydlet jako jeden lid jen s touto podmínkou: každý z nás, kdo je mužského pohlaví, se musí dát obřezat, jako jsou obřezaní oni.

23 (KJV) Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.
23 (B21) Nebudou snad potom jejich stáda, jejich majetek a všechna jejich zvířata naše? Vyhovme jim tedy, ať bydlí u nás!"

24 (KJV) And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.
24 (B21) A tak všichni, kdo vycházeli z brány jeho města, poslechli Chamora i jeho syna Šechema a dali se obřezat: každý, kdo byl mužského pohlaví, každý, kdo vycházel z brány toho města.

25 (KJV) And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.
25 (B21) Třetího dne, když měli největší bolesti, se dva Jákobovi synové, Dínini bratři Šimeon a Levi, chopili každý svého meče, v bezpečí vešli do města a pobili všechny, kdo byli mužského pohlaví.

26 (KJV) And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out.
26 (B21) Také Chamora a jeho syna Šechema zabili ostřím meče. Vzali Dínu z Šechemova domu a odešli.

27 (KJV) The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.
27 (B21) Jákobovi synové pak přišli k pobitým a vyplenili město, kde byla poskvrněna jejich sestra.

28 (KJV) They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field,
28 (B21) Vzali jejich brav, skot i osly, cokoli bylo ve městě i na poli -

29 (KJV) And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house.
29 (B21) všechno jejich bohatství. Všechny jejich děti a ženy zajali a vše, co bylo v domech, vyplenili.

30 (KJV) And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.
30 (B21) Jákob pak Šimeonovi a Levimu vyčetl: "Přivedli jste mě do neštěstí! Zošklivili jste mě obyvatelům země, Kananejcům i Perizejcům. Mám jen hrstku mužů; spojí-li se proti mně, zabijí mě a budu vyhlazen - já i můj dům!"

31 (KJV) And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
31 (B21) Oni však řekli: "To měl s naší sestrou zacházet jako s nevěstkou?"
