1 (KJV) And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
1 (B21) Když potom Jákob pozvedl oči, hle, spatřil přicházet Ezaua a s ním čtyři sta mužů. Rozdělil tedy děti mezi Léu, Ráchel a ty dvě otrokyně

2 (KJV) And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
2 (B21) a postavil otrokyně s jejich dětmi dopředu, Léu s jejími dětmi za ně a Ráchel s Josefem dozadu.

3 (KJV) And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
3 (B21) Sám pak šel před nimi a sedmkrát se poklonil až k zemi, než došel ke svému bratru.

4 (KJV) And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
4 (B21) Ezau mu vyběhl naproti, objal ho, padl mu kolem krku a líbal ho. Oba plakali.

5 (KJV) And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
5 (B21) Když potom pozvedl oči, spatřil ženy s dětmi a řekl: "Kdo je to s tebou?" Jákob odpověděl: "To jsou děti, kterými Bůh obdaroval tvého služebníka."

6 (KJV) Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
6 (B21) Mezitím se přiblížily otrokyně se svými dětmi a poklonily se.

7 (KJV) And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
7 (B21) Potom se přiblížila také Léa se svými dětmi a poklonily se. Nakonec se přiblížili Josef a Ráchel a i oni se poklonili.

8 (KJV) And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
8 (B21) Ezau se zeptal: "K čemu je celý ten průvod, který jsem potkal?" On odpověděl: "Chtěl jsem si tě příznivě naklonit, můj pane."

9 (KJV) And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
9 (B21) Ezau řekl: "Mám dostatek, bratře, nech si, co ti patří."

10 (KJV) And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
10 (B21) Jákob však odpověděl: "Prosím, nikoli! Přijmi laskavě ode mě tento dar. Když vidím tvou tvář, je přívětivá jako tvář Boží.

11 (KJV) Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
11 (B21) Přijmi prosím z mého požehnání, co jsem ti přinesl, neboť Bůh ke mně byl milostivý a mám všeho dostatek." A naléhal na něj, až Ezau přijal.

12 (KJV) And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
12 (B21) Ten potom řekl: "Vydejme se na cestu, půjdu s tebou."

13 (KJV) And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
13 (B21) Jákob mu však odpověděl: "Můj pán ví, že tu jsou malé děti. Navíc mám s sebou březí ovce a krávy; budou-li hnány po celý den, všechen dobytek pomře.

14 (KJV) Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
14 (B21) Nechť prosím můj pán jde před svým služebníkem napřed. Já pak budu pokračovat zvolna, jak bude moci stačit stádo, které mám před sebou, a jak budou moci stačit děti, dokud nedojdu ke svému pánu do Seíru."

15 (KJV) And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
15 (B21) Ezau řekl: "Nechám tedy s tebou některé ze svých lidí." Jákob však odpověděl: "K čemu to, můj pane? Kéž mi jen zachováš svou přízeň."

16 (KJV) So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
16 (B21) A tak se Ezau téhož dne vrátil svou cestou do Seíru,

17 (KJV) And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
17 (B21) zatímco Jákob se vydal k Sukotu. Tam si postavil dům a pro svůj dobytek zhotovil přístřešky. Proto se to místo jmenuje Sukot, Přístřešky.

18 (KJV) And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-aram; and pitched his tent before the city.
18 (B21) Jákob pak na cestě z Padan-aramu pokojně dorazil do města Šechem v kanaánské zemi a utábořil se před městem.

19 (KJV) And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
19 (B21) Díl pole, na němž vztyčil svůj stan, koupil od synů Šechemova otce Chamora za sto mincí.

20 (KJV) And he erected there an altar, and called it El-elohe-Israel.
20 (B21) Postavil tam oltář a nazval ho "Bůh je Bohem Izraele."
