Kniha Genezis

1 (KJV) And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
1 (B21) V zemi pak nastal hlad (podobný hlad jako ten dřívější, který byl za dnů Abrahamových), a tak se Izák vydal do Geraru k filištínskému králi Abimelechovi.

2 (KJV) And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
2 (B21) Ukázal se mu totiž Hospodin a řekl: "Nesestupuj do Egypta! Usaď se v zemi, kterou ti určím.

3 (KJV) Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
3 (B21) Pobývej v této zemi a já budu s tebou a požehnám ti, neboť tobě a tvému semeni dám všechny tyto země. Tak splním přísahu, kterou jsem složil tvému otci Abrahamovi:

4 (KJV) And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
4 (B21) ‚Tvé símě rozmnožím jako hvězdy na nebi. Tvému semeni dám všechny tyto země a ve tvém semeni dojdou požehnání všechny národy na zemi.'

5 (KJV) Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
5 (B21) To proto, že Abraham uposlechl můj hlas a zachoval, co jsem mu svěřil - má přikázání, má ustanovení a má ponaučení."

6 (KJV) And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
6 (B21) A tak se Izák usadil v Geraru.

7 (KJV) And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
7 (B21) Když se ho tamější muži vyptávali na jeho ženu, odpověděl: "Je to má sestra." Bál se totiž říci: "Je to má žena," neboť si pomyslel: "Aby mě snad zdejší muži kvůli Rebece nezabili." Byla totiž velmi krásná.

8 (KJV) And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.
8 (B21) Jednou, když už tam byli dlouho, vyhlížel filištínský král Abimelech z okna a uviděl, jak se Izák mazlí se svou ženou Rebekou.

9 (KJV) And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.
9 (B21) Abimelech si tedy Izáka zavolal a řekl: "Vida, přece je to tvá žena! Proč jsi tedy říkal: ‚Je to má sestra'?" "Myslel jsem si, že bych kvůli ní mohl zemřít," odpověděl mu Izák.

10 (KJV) And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.
10 (B21) Abimelech zvolal: "Cos nám to udělal? Někdo z lidu mohl snadno s tvou ženou spát, a tak bys na nás uvedl vinu!"

11 (KJV) And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
11 (B21) Potom Abimelech přikázal všemu lidu: "Kdokoli se dotkne tohoto muže nebo jeho manželky, musí zemřít!"

12 (KJV) Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
12 (B21) Izák pak v té zemi sel a téhož roku sklidil stonásobek, neboť mu Hospodin požehnal.

13 (KJV) And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
13 (B21) A tak se ten muž vzmohl a rozmáhal se stále víc, až se stal velmi zámožným.

14 (KJV) For he had possession of flocks, and possessions of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
14 (B21) Měl stáda bravu, stáda skotu a početné služebnictvo. Proto mu Filištíni začali závidět.

15 (KJV) For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
15 (B21) Všechny studny, které služebníci jeho otce vykopali za dnů jeho otce Abrahama, Filištíni zasypali a naplnili hlínou.

16 (KJV) And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
16 (B21) Abimelech tehdy Izákovi řekl: "Odejdi od nás! Jsi mnohem mocnější než my."

17 (KJV) And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
17 (B21) Izák proto odtud odešel, utábořil se v gerarském údolí a tam bydlel.

18 (KJV) And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
18 (B21) Izák pak znovu kopal studnice vody vykopané za dnů jeho otce Abrahama, které po Abrahamově smrti Filištíni zasypali, a dal jim stejná jména, jako jim kdysi dal jeho otec.

19 (KJV) And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
19 (B21) Izákovi služebníci v tom údolí kopali a našli studnici pramenité vody.

20 (KJV) And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
20 (B21) Gerarští pastýři se však začali s Izákovými pastýři o studnu hádat: "Ta voda je naše!" A tak Izák tu studnu nazval Esek, Rozepře, protože se s ním přeli.

21 (KJV) And they digged another well, and strove for that also:and he called the name of it Sitnah.
21 (B21) Potom vykopali další studnu. I o tu se hádali, a tak ji nazval Sitna, Nepřátelství.

22 (KJV) And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
22 (B21) Přesunul se tedy odtud dál a vykopal další studnu. O tu se už nehádali, a tak ji nazval Rechobot, Prostranství. Řekl totiž: "Teď nám Hospodin daroval prostor, abychom se rozplodili na zemi."

23 (KJV) And he went up from thence to Beer-sheba.
23 (B21) Když pak odtud vystoupil do Beer-šeby,

24 (KJV) And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.
24 (B21) ukázal se mu téže noci Hospodin a řekl: "Já jsem Bůh tvého otce Abrahama. Neboj se, neboť jsem s tebou. Požehnám ti a rozmnožím tvé símě kvůli Abrahamovi, svému služebníku."

25 (KJV) And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well.
25 (B21) Postavil tam tedy oltář a vzýval Hospodinovo jméno. Vztyčil tam svůj stan a Izákovi služebníci tam vykopali studnu.

26 (KJV) Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
26 (B21) Tehdy k němu přišel z Geraru Abimelech se svým pobočníkem Achuzatem a s velitelem svého vojska Píkolem.

27 (KJV) And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?
27 (B21) Izák se jich zeptal: "Proč ke mně přicházíte? Vždyť mě nenávidíte a vyhnali jste mě od vás."

28 (KJV) And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;
28 (B21) Odpověděli: "Jasně jsme poznali, že Hospodin je s tebou, a tak jsme si řekli: Ať je teď mezi námi a tebou přísaha. Chceme s tebou vstoupit do smlouvy,

29 (KJV) That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.
29 (B21) že nám neuděláš nic zlého, tak jako jsme se my nedotkli tebe a prokazovali ti pouze dobrodiní a propustili tě v pokoji. Jsi přece Hospodinův požehnaný!"

30 (KJV) And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.
30 (B21) Vystrojil jim tedy hostinu a jedli a pili.

31 (KJV) And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
31 (B21) Časně ráno pak vstali a vzájemně si přísahali. Potom je Izák propustil, a tak od něj odešli v pokoji.

32 (KJV) And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.
32 (B21) A téhož dne se stalo, že přišli Izákovi služebníci a pověděli mu o studni, kterou kopali: "Našli jsme vodu!"

33 (KJV) And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beer-sheba unto this day.
33 (B21) Nazval ji tedy Šibea, Přísaha, a proto se to město až dodnes jmenuje Beer-šeba, Studna přísahy.

34 (KJV) And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:
34 (B21) Když bylo Ezauovi čtyřicet let, vzal si za ženu Juditu, dceru Chetejce Beerího, a Basematu, dceru Chetejce Elona.

35 (KJV) Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
35 (B21) Ty působily Izákovi a Rebece hořké trápení.
