1 Gn 17, 1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2 Gn 17, 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3 Gn 17, 3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, 4 Gn 17, 4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Gn 17, 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6 Gn 17, 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7 Gn 17, 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 8 Gn 17, 8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. 9 Gn 17, 9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. 10 Gn 17, 10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. 11 Gn 17, 11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. 12 Gn 17, 12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. 13 Gn 17, 13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 Gn 17, 14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. 15 Gn 17, 15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16 Gn 17, 16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. 17 Gn 17, 17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? 18 Gn 17, 18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! 19 Gn 17, 19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. 20 Gn 17, 20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. 21 Gn 17, 21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. 22 Gn 17, 22 And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. 23 Gn 17, 23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. 24 Gn 17, 24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 25 Gn 17, 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 26 Gn 17, 26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. 27 Gn 17, 27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Gn 15:18 - In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Ex 2:24 - And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
Ex 6:5 - And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
Lv 26:42 - Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
Gn 12:2 - And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Gn 13:16 - And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
Gn 15:5 - And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
Verš 4
As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Rim 4:17 - (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Verš 6
And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
Mt 1:6 - And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
Verš 7
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Gn 13:15 - For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Verš 8
And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
Gn 15:18 - In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Dt 1:8 - Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
Verš 11
And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
Sk 7:8 - And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
Rim 4:11 - And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
Verš 12
And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
Lv 12:3 - And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
Lk 2:21 - And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Verš 19
And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
Gn 18:10 - And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
Gn 21:2 - For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
Verš 20
And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
Gn 16:10 - And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
Gn 25:12 - Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
Gn 25:16 - These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
Verš 21
But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
Gn 21:2 - For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
Gn 17,1-8 - Všemohúci Boh, hebr. ,El-Šaddaj', označuje Boha, ktorý sám sebe stačí a ktorý môže všetko (Ex 6,2). Boh pripomína svoju zmluvu, ale už aj od Abrama žiada okrem dokonalého života a vernosti – chodievaj predo mnou – obriezku, ktorá bude vonkajším znakom zmluvy. Obriezka sama nie je zmluvou, ale len znakom. – Boh mení Abramovo meno na Abrahám – otec množstva. Aj táto zmena je znakom, že Boh svoje prisľúbenie o Abrahámovom potomstve splní.
Gn 17,9-14 - Obriezka jestvovala už pred Abrahámom. Teraz dostáva iný zmysel (Ex 4,25; Joz 5,2), náboženský charakter. V Izraeli od čias Abrahámových bola vonkajším znakom zmluvy medzi Bohom a Izraelitmi, mala pripomínať povinnosti a záväzky, ktoré mali Izraeliti voči Bohu a bola upamätovaním na vyvolenie Božie: z potomstva Abrahámovho narodí sa Mesiáš. Len tí budú účastní na požehnaní Božom, čo budú mať obriezku, len tí budú vlastníkmi zasľúbenej zeme, čo budú nosiť toto viditeľné znamenie – ostatní budú vytvorení, vyobcovaní spomedzi Božieho ľudu. Obriezka sama v sebe bola len znamením, teda nespôsobovala sama zo seba ospravedlnenie, no povzbudzovala človeka na vzbudenie viery, nádeje a lásky k Bohu, oživovala nádej v budúceho Mesiáša. Takto obriezka bola predobrazom sviatosti krstu (Kol 2,11). Obriezkou sa stával starozákonný človek členom Božieho ľudu a krstom sa stávame členmi kráľovstva Kristovho, sv. Cirkvi. Boh pozdvihuje známy obrad na nové označenie, ako to bolo pri zmluve s Noemom: dúhu dal na znamenie, že viac nebude potopy, tak tu obriezku (poznali ju Edomčania, Amončania, Moabčania, Arabi, ba aj Egypťania) nariaďuje nosiť ako znamenie svojej zmluvy s Abrahámom a jeho potomstvom, a takto sa aj obriezka stáva jednou z podmienok zmluvy. Obriezku vykonával obyčajne otec rodiny, neskoršie osobitný skúsený muž, ktorého volali mohel. Robili ju ostrým kamenným nožom.
Gn 17,15 - Boh mení aj meno Saraiino. Doteraz sa volala Sarai (t. j. Pani moja, Kráľovná moja), nabudúce jej meno bude len Sára, t. j. Pani, Kráľovná, lebo bude matkou vyvoleného národa a matkou mnohých kniežat a kráľov (6.16). Táto zmena je teda obdobná so zmenou mena Abrahámovho. Mená budú označovať splnenie Božieho prísľubu.
Gn 17,16-22 - Boh udáva dôvod, prečo zmenil meno Saraiino, a spolu zvestuje Abrahámovi, že prisľúbený dedič bude syn, ktorého mu porodí Sára (15, 4). Abrahámov smiech je alúziou na Izákovo meno. Bola to teda veľká skúška Abrahámovej viery. Požehnania nebudú patriť Izmaelovi, ale Izákovi, ktorý bude dedičom Božích prísľubov.
