Gn 16, 1-16

1 (UKJV) Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
1 (ROH) Ale Sáraj, žena Abramova, mu nerodila, a mala dievku Egypťanku, ktorej bolo meno Hagar.
1 (RIV) Or Sarai, moglie d’Abramo, non gli avea dato figliuoli. Essa aveva una serva egiziana per nome Agar.

2 (UKJV) "And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing: I pray you, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. "
2 (ROH) A Sáraj riekla Abramovi: Nože hľa, Hospodin ma zavrel, aby som nerodila; vojdi tedy k mojej dievke, ak by som azda od nej mala syna. A Abram poslúchol na hlas Sáraje.
2 (RIV) E Sarai disse ad Abramo: "Ecco, l’Eterno m’ha fatta sterile; deh, va’ dalla mia serva; forse avrò progenie da lei". E Abramo dette ascolto alla voce di Sarai.

3 (UKJV) And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
3 (ROH) Vtedy vzala Sáraj, žena Abramova, Hagar, Egypťanku, svoju dievku, po desiatich rokoch, ktoré býval Abram v zemi Kanaáne, a dala ju Abramovi, svojmu mužovi, za ženu.
3 (RIV) Sarai dunque, moglie d’Abramo, dopo che Abramo ebbe dimorato dieci anni nel paese di Canaan, prese la sua serva Agar, l’Egiziana, e la diede per moglie ad Abramo suo marito.

4 (UKJV) And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
4 (ROH) A vošiel k Hagari a počala. A keď videla, že počala, zľahčila si svoju paniu vo svojich očiach.
4 (RIV) Ed egli andò da Agar, che rimase incinta; e quando s’accorse ch’era incinta, guardò la sua padrona con disprezzo.

5 (UKJV) "And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon you: I have given my maid into your bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and you. "
5 (ROH) A Sáraj povedala Abramovi: Moja krivda nech prijde na teba! Ja som dala svoju dievku do tvojho lona, a teraz, keď vidí, že počala, zľahčená som v jej očiach. Nech Hospodin rozsúdi medzi mnou a medzi tebou!
5 (RIV) E Sarai disse ad Abramo: "L’ingiuria fatta a me, ricade su te. Io t’ho dato la mia serva in seno; e da che ella s’è accorta ch’era incinta, mi guarda con disprezzo. L’Eterno sia giudice fra me e te".

6 (UKJV) "But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, your maid is in your hand; do to her as it pleases you. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face. "
6 (ROH) A Abram povedal Sáraji: Hľa, tvoja dievka je v tvojej ruke; učiň jej to, čo je dobré v tvojich očiach. A Sáraj ju trápila, a utiekla od nej.
6 (RIV) E Abramo rispose a Sarai: "Ecco, la tua serva è in tuo potere; fa’ con lei come ti piacerà". Sarai la trattò duramente, ed ella se ne fuggì da lei.

7 (UKJV) And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
7 (ROH) Potom ju našiel anjel Hospodinov pri prameni vody na púšti, pri prameni na ceste do Šúra.
7 (RIV) E l’angelo dell’Eterno la trovò presso una sorgente d’acqua, nel deserto, presso la sorgente ch’è sulla via di Shur,

8 (UKJV) And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence came you? and where will you go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
8 (ROH) A riekol: Hagar, dievko Sárajina, odkiaľ prichádzaš a kam ideš? A ona povedala: Utekám od tvári Sáraje, svojej panej.
8 (RIV) e le disse: "Agar, serva di Sarai, donde vieni? e dove vai?" Ed ella rispose: "Me ne fuggo dal cospetto di Sarai mia padrona".

9 (UKJV) And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.
9 (ROH) A anjel Hospodinov jej riekol: Navráť sa ku svojej panej a pokor sa pod jej ruku!
9 (RIV) E l’angelo dell’Eterno le disse: "Torna alla tua padrona, e umiliati sotto la sua mano".

10 (UKJV) And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply your seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
10 (ROH) A zase jej riekol anjel Hospodinov: Veľmi rozmnožím tvoje semeno, takže nebude môcť byť spočítané pre množstvo.
10 (RIV) L’angelo dell’Eterno soggiunse: "Io moltiplicherò grandemente la tua progenie, e non la si potrà contare, tanto sarà numerosa".

11 (UKJV) "And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, you are with child and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael; because the LORD has heard your affliction. "
11 (ROH) A ešte jej riekol anjel Hospodinov: Hľa, tehotná si a porodíš syna a nazveš jeho meno Izmael , lebo Hospodin počul tvoje trápenie.
11 (RIV) E l’angelo dell’Eterno le disse ancora: "Ecco, tu sei incinta, e partorirai un figliuolo, al quale porrai nome Ismaele, perché l’Eterno t’ha ascoltata nella tua afflizione;

12 (UKJV) "And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. "
12 (ROH) A bude to divoký človek; jeho ruka bude proti všetkým a ruka všetkých proti nemu, a bude bývať pred tvárou všetkých svojich bratov.
12 (RIV) esso sarà tra gli uomini come un asino selvatico; la sua mano sarà contro tutti, e la mano di tutti contro di lui; e abiterà in faccia a tutti i suoi fratelli".

13 (UKJV) And she called the name of the LORD that spoke unto her, You God see me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that sees me?
13 (ROH) A nazvala meno Hospodina, ktorý hovoril k nej: Ty si silný Bôh, ktorý vidíš, lebo riekla: Či ešte aj tu hľadím za tým, ktorý ma vidí?
13 (RIV) Allora Agar chiamò il nome dell’Eterno che le avea parlato, Atta-El-Roi, perché disse: "Ho io, proprio qui, veduto andarsene colui che m’ha vista?"

14 (UKJV) "Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered. "
14 (ROH) Preto nazvali studňu: Studňa Živého, ktorý ma vidí. Hľa, je to studňa, ktorá je medzi Kádešom a medzi Báredom.
14 (RIV) Perciò quel pozzo fu chiamato "il pozzo di Lachai-Roi". Ecco, esso è fra Kades e Bered.

15 (UKJV) And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
15 (ROH) A Hagar porodila Abramovi syna. A Abram nazval meno svojho syna, ktorého porodila Hagar, Izmael.
15 (RIV) E Agar partorì un figliuolo ad Abramo; e Abramo, al figliuolo che Agar gli avea partorito, pose nome Ismaele.

16 (UKJV) And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
16 (ROH) A Abramovi bolo osemdesiatšesť rokov, keď mu porodila Hagar Izmaela.
16 (RIV) Abramo aveva ottantasei anni quando Agar gli partorì Ismaele.

Verš 12
"And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. "
Gn 25:18 - And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as you go toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

Verš 14
"Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered. "
Gn 24:62 - "And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country. "
Gn 25:11 - "And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi. "

Verš 15
And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
Gal 4:22 - For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

Gn 16,1-7 - Podľa platných zákonov v Chaldejsku a neskoršie aj v Izraeli žena, ktorá bola bezdetná, mohla dať svoju otrokyňu mužovi a deti, ktoré sa z nej narodili, považovali sa za zákonité potomstvo panej.

Gn 16,8-11 - Pánov anjel – tieto slová označujú niekedy samého Boha, ktorý sa zjavuje vo viditeľnej podobe (Gn 16,13; 18,1 n.; Ex 3,2 n.), inokedy anjela, posla Božieho. Zmysel výroku treba vždy určiť zo súvislosti textu. V tomto prípade je jasné, že označuje Boha. – Izmael ,Boh vyslyší' (,El Boh' ,jišma' ,počuje, slyší'). Boh vypočul Agar a pomohol jej v ťažkostiach a utrpení (v. 6).

Gn 16,12 - O Izmaelovi predpovedá Boh, že "bude to človek ako divý osol" (Vulgáta slovo osol vynecháva). Prirovnanie je prevzaté zo života beduínskeho, aký život viedol Abram a jeho najbližší potomci. Povahy bude neskrotnej, milovať bude slobodu a kočovnícky život. Arabskí beduíni dodnes považujú Izmaela za svojho praotca.
