Ž 122, 1-9

1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. 2 Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together: 4 Where the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. 5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you. 7 Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. 8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you. 9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

Neh 2:10 - When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

Z 122 - O nadpise pozri poznámku pri 120. žalme. Ak je Dávid pôvodcom tohto žalmu, mohol ho zaspievať len po prenesení archy zmluvy na Sion (2 Sam 6).

Z 122,3 - Kto prvýkrát prišiel do Jeruzalema, musel obdivovať jeho veľkoleposť. "Mesto spojené v jeden celok", dosl. "mesto vybudované, pospájané navzájom v jeden celok", totižto Jeruzalem bolo mesto súvislé, jeho domy stáli jeden popri druhom, a jednotné.

Z 122,5 - Inou prednosťou Jeruzalema je, že v ňom býval kráľ a tam mal sídlo aj najvyšší izraelský súd.

Z 122,8-9 - Pútnici žiadajú pokoj a šťastie Jeruzalemu a najmä chrámu, ale to všetko žiadajú vlastne sebe a pre seba.
